Junior Golf on the Mornington Peninsula

Matt Bolton develops Junior Golf on the Mornington Peninsula

In 2010 Matt Bolton was the first Golf Teaching Professional in Australia to purchase SNAG equipment specifically to teach school children the basics of golf. The SNAG, Starting New At Golf, equipment is used throughout the world to make Golf fun. Matt took the SNAG equipment to schools on the Mornington Peninsula as part of the Active Schools Community Program so that the children could experience golf in a fun way.

In 2012, TPI, the Titleist Performance Institute, world leaders in golf development ran a Junior Golf Coaching Program which Matt attended. He became one of only a handful of Golf Teaching Professionals in Australia to be an accredited TPI Junior Coach.

Junior Golf at the Rosebud Country Club

The course stimulated Matt to review the Junior Golf Development Program at the Rosebud Country Club, where he is the Teaching Professional, and he decided the program needed a major overhaul. He wrote a specific Junior Development Program which would take children through the ten years of tuition required to become top grade Junior Golfers.

The course was so successful that the number of children wishing to attend the course had to be limited. There are now over 100 children registered at the Rosebud Country Club. The Rosebud Country Club Junior Program is split into two segments, Divots and Cadets.

Divots Junior Golf Program

Rosebud Country Club & Bolton Performance Golf are committed to promoting junior golf. The Divots program runs every Tuesday from 4pm–5pm during school terms 1, 2 and 4. It is open to school aged boys and girls who are wanting to learn how to play golf. Everything is provided and parents are encouraged to stay on and enjoy the Club’s facilities while their children take part in a fun and rewarding program.

The program has a built in development program which enables the children to progress through a series of skill development stages until they are ready to join the Cadet Group. Matt is assisted with the Divots Program by a group of dedicated volunteers who supervise the children whilst carrying out the activities developed by Matt each Tuesday. The Divots golf program is just $90 per year for the three terms.

Cadet Membership

Cadet Membership is open to boys and girls aged up to 17 years. The Cadet Programs are designed to develop specific golfing skills to the stage where the Cadets are capable of competition play. In addition to two coaching sessions per week under the direction of Matt Bolton the Cadets have access to the golf course seven days a week.

The Cadet Program is tailored to suit any level of junior golfer. Cadet Membership is $255 a year and there is no joining fee.
